Week 9 reflection

I found Chantelle’s presentation very informative. I really liked that she went over how to assess students needs because I feel like we have been told many times during this semester to accommodate students’ needs but we haven’t exactly been told how to assess this. I also liked that she emphasized to never assume/name/state disabilities if you don’t know of any. This point was important to me because I have seen so many educators tell me that they assume a student has some sort of disability. Of course with experience some teachers can recognize the signs of certain disabilities but I don’t think we should be naming it. Going off of IEP’s, talks with the students family and/or previous teachers is a better way to asses what the student needs and you can accommodate from there.
